The situation
This classic red cottage near downtown Columbia had been living without gutters on much of the house, and the eaves showed it: weathered, stained fascia where roof runoff had been pouring straight down the boards, and splash erosion working on the foundation line below. Gutters aren't glamorous, but this is exactly how fascia rot and crawlspace moisture problems start.
What we did
- Inspected and prepped the fascia so the new gutters were anchored to sound wood
- Ran new seamless gutters on site, custom-formed to each run, no mid-run joints to leak later
- Hung every run to a checked pitch (there's a level on it in the photos, that's not for show) so water actually moves to the downspouts
- Placed downspouts to carry water away from the foundation and the backyard deck
The result
Clean white seamless gutters that suit the character of the house, water going where it should, and the fascia protected from here on. Project investment: about $1,300, done in a single visit. Seamless gutters are the trade we took home The State's Best 2026 award for, and small jobs get the same care as the big ones. If your eaves are staining or your landscaping is washing out below the roofline, that's the roof telling you something.
